Ah, appreciation.
What a marvelous, calming, soothing perspective. When we approach our day with appreciation of the gifts that we receive continually, it is hard not to feel peaceful.
Many of us approach life each day with expectation of what we think will happen, often missing some of amazing things that do happen. It is so fun when we notice. I used to inhabit my world from a perspective of cause and effect. I would do something expecting a specific result and if it didn’t work out, I would adjust until it worked out much they way I planned. If it still didn’t work out, I would become disappointed. Recently, my life changed so that mode of operating was more obviously not working for me. Many of the things I planned were not working as I thought they should. WHAT A BLESSING! It forced me to change my perspective or be disappointed all the time. Thus, missing the things that were happening. Instead, I approached most of the day, many interactions, and many events with wonder and presence, appreciating all that I experience. I have seen things happen on a daily basis that are wonderful and fulfilling without the stress of disappointment. When I reflect on my day, I notice how things are progressing nicely and in ways that are far better than I could ever have planned myself.
